Speak Yourself #2 : The Chinese Bamboo

This is kind of continuation to the previous post yet a writing stand-alone.

Element - Earth
Narrator (she) - the Chinese bamboo plant
Theme - The perspective of the plant reminiscing when its planted underground and its desire to rise above, breaking ground.

Speak Yourself #2 : The Chinese Bamboo

Place of her own is it?
a cramped hole underground
dark, dirty, shady, seedy
the one, no one's ever wished for!

The way up, the Sky and the Sun
that warmth is but out of reach
she feels weak, lost inside
this well of cold despair
yet she feels the calm
underneath
where the water trickles out
of crevices unseen..

It was such a long ago..
But that fall she couldn't forget
those mixed emotions
losing warmth
stupid search that followed
for which, the ground she burrowed..

And here she is
lost, in the track of time
lost, in the sense of direction
but she's grown, strengthened
everytime, everywhere..

Today's different though
she feels it in her bones
now that
she's only inches away
from breaking ground..
in reverse though!

Concluding thoughts :
The story of Chinese Bamboo plant has been one the best early lessons of my life. And everytime that story reminds me of patience and perseverance.
