Art Form #1: Trompe L'oeil
Preface:
Recently , I came across this phrase 'Trompe L'oeil' and it kind of inspired me to start this series on art expressions.
Art Form #1: Trompe L'oeil
Her's is a ramshackle existence
battered and crumbling
falling apart
cracks and crevices
clearly visible
on display, especially
the parts unpleasant to look at!
And yet those cracks are
open to memories dark,
a door to warmth,
stairs to spaces,
that once held
a promise
of home, of comfort
now dank, invisible, lost!
And yet she exists
a mural, for you to see
of who she was
of who she is
a fragmented fading memory
of once held glory
let it deceive your eye
for the echo goes
far back
the depth though seen
remains mute, unmeasured!
Oh yes she is a warrior
battered, proud, unafraid
for even in ruins
she is art in progress!
- Krutika Tawde
Fun fact :
Eyes are said to be the only human body part that doesn't grow with age. It is fully grown by birth.
Lexicon : - Trompe L'oeil (french for 'deceive the eye')
Inspired By : The Pier Head Mural, Swanage by Nina Camplin
